New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Campaign To Ban This Violent Threat To Our Safety

The activist group New Yorkers Against Gun Violence wants Apple to ditch the gun emoji and is asking people to tweet Apple CEO Tim Cook using the hashtag #DisarmTheiPhone to pressure him to remove it from the emoji catalog.
The group’s executive director, Leah Barrett, told Fast Company, “The iPhone is ubiquitous. [Guns are] on the iPhone as an option. We thought this was a way to bring attention to the issue [of gun violence].”
Leah Barrett said “You have to start somewhere,” and then talked about future plans to try and ban the Microsoft toy gun emoji also.
This is not a joke, we promise! However, once you recover from your belly laugh, the fact this this is disconcerting will start to sink in slowly.
This agenda marks the gun as an object solely representing gun violence and evil.
Yes people will get fired up and join this “righteous campaign”and Apple might even get rid of the gun emoji.
Seriously though why stop there? 1.3 Million people die in car crashes each year! We must remove the car emojis! Almost 4 thousand people drown each year! Remove all the water-related emojis! What about the french fry, pizza, cheeseburger, donut, candy, cookie, cake, or ice cream emojis!! 300,000 people die from obesity in the US every year! Have you seen the horrific cow emoji?! 20 people are killed by cows every year! This is not to mention the volcano, lightning, airplane, knife, and cigarette emojis.
Enough is enough people, this is ridiculous. People use guns to SAVE lives every day! Refuse to buy into this crap, refuse to be a bandwagon idiot and stand up and show people defensive gun use saves lives.
If you’re on twitter join the army of people who want to show Tim Cook this is ridiculous by tweeting #KeeptheiPhoneArmed
